IndyCar racer Danica Patrick finally won a race on her 50th start yesterday in the Indy Japan 300. This made her the first ever woman to win an IndyCar race.
Many doubted Patrick would reach this milestone thinking she was simply a novel female in a male dominated sport. Her looks seemed to bring her more notoriety than her racing skills, kind of an IndyCar version of Anna Kournikova.
But yesterday's victory over pole position driver Helio Castroneves who came in 2nd, forever ended those misperceptions. It also lifted the monkey question off her back that went "When will you win your first race?"
